Setting Up Multi-Person Unlock for Stand Alone Access Controller
Description
This tutorial will cover how to set up Multi-Person unlock for stand alone access controllers. Multi-Person unlock requires at least 2 people in a defined group to successfully validate a door before it will open. This provides an extra layer of security for sensitive areas.
Prerequisites
- Luminys Access Controller (with at least basic setup completed)
- WebUI Access
Step by Step Instructions
1. Log in to the controllers WebUI. Once logged in, select Access Rules on the left, and then Multi-Person Unlock. To create a rule, select + Add.
2. In the window that opens, we need to first select the Device you are creating the rule for. Note that you can only set one rule per door. Once you have chosen the door you are working with, select + Add Person Groups.
3. The window that opens will display any Person Groups that have already been created. Note that these groups are specific to the Multi-Person unlock, so they are likely to be empty if this is the first time. To create a group, click Add.
4. Give your group a name, and select the users that will be required to unlock the door. The group can have more users than necessary, to allow for flexibility in the application of the rule. This means any combination of the defined users in the group can unlock the door, as long as the number of successful authentications matches the defined valid number (step 6). Once your users are selected, click OK.
5. Make sure the newly created group is checked, and click OK.
6. You will now see an overview of all the rule settings. The last thing we need to do is set the Valid No. (number) required to unlock the door. In this example, the group has 3 users, and the Valid No. is set to 2. This means any combination of 2 users can unlock the door: Brennon + Mark, Brennon + Terry, or Mark + Terry.
You can also set the required unlock method for the rule. Setting the Unlock Method to Card/Password/Fingerprint/Bluetooth will allow any form of authentication for any of the users. If you specify an unlock method such as card, only card can be used for each user, so ensure all users have the required validation type in User Management.
Click Apply when you are finished.
7. You can now see the rule in the list of rules. You can click + Add to make another rule for a different door, or delete the rule here. You can also click the Person Group Management tab at the top to modify your Person Groups.
8. Now that everything is set, you will see when a door requires additional validation to unlock in Access Monitoring, and the successful unlock after that Valid No. has been met:
