Using a USB Card Reader vs LumiViewer

Description

This tutorial will go over how to use the Luminys USB Card Reader to register cards for access control users via LumiViewer software.

Prerequisites

  • LumiViewer
  • USB Card Reader connected to PC

Step by Step Instructions

1. Start by opening LumiViewer. From the Home tab, select Person and Permission under the Access Control header.

2. In Person Management, click the Add button to add a Person, if you do not already have one. If you do, click edit on the Person you wish to add a card to.

3. Enter a numerical User ID, and provide a Name for the Person, if you are creating a new one.

4. Scroll down to the Card section, and click on the settings gear to the far right.

5. Select Card Issuer from the Card Reader drop down menu to tell LumiViewer to use the USB Reader as the registration device.

6. *Before clicking add, make sure the fob/card is on the USB reader.* With the fob/card in place, click Add.

7. The card number should automatically populate in the card field with the card details. Click OK to confirm.

8. Once completed, you should see the card details registered to the Person. You can click Finish to complete editing an existing Person or when you are done creating one, or you can click Continue to move on to creating the next Person.
