How To Set Up Pin Code Unlock via WebUI

Description

This guide will cover how to set up pin code unlocking via Luminys Access Controller WebUI.

Prerequisites

  • Luminys Access Controller
  • Reader with PIN input options
  • WebUI access

This guide assumes you have already initialized your device. For stand alone/WebUI configuration, you must use the Main controller.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Start by logging in to the Access Controller WebUI and selecting User Management on the left.

2. Click Add to create a new user. If you already have a user to whom you wish to add a pin, click the edit button to the right of that user.

3. Create a numerical User ID and create a User Name for the user (if you are adding a new user). Specify any other desired settings and select the Authentication tab at the top.

4. Expand the Password field, and click Add.

5. Enter the pin you wish to use here. It can be 1-8 characters long, and must be numeric. Once you have entered and confirmed the pin, click OK.

6. Click OK again to finish modifying the user, or click Add to finish adding a user, depending on which action you performed.

7. Once your user(s) have pins, you will need to make sure the door parameters are set to allow unlocking with a pin. To do this, go to Access Rules on the left > Door Parameters, and select the door you wish to allow pin access for. Check the box for Password in the Unlock Settings, and hit Apply. Repeat this for any other doors you wish to use pins with.

8. You are now ready to unlock doors using a pin. To do so, use the following format when unlocking with the reader: UserID#Pin#

For example, User ID 1, with pin 1234 would enter 1#1234# to gain access.

9. In some cases, you may want to allow access to the door without using a user ID. To do this, select Access Rules on the left and then PIN Code Unlock. Enable the PIN Code Authentication toggle and Apply. You can now unlock doors with only Pin#. For example User ID 1 with pin 1234 can unlock doors using only 1234#

Note: Unlock records will no longer display which user unlocked the door, only that the door was unlock with a password. If you need to know who specifically unlocked a door, you cannot use this feature.
