Setting Up First Person Unlock for Stand Alone Access Controller

Description

This tutorial will cover how to set up the First Person Unlock function of a stand alone access controller. First Person Unlock tells the controller to change the status of a door when a specified user unlocks it, during the defined time frame. It will stay in that status until the end of the scheduled period and return to it's normal status.

Prerequisites

Step by Step Instructions

1. Start by logging in to the WebUI for the controller, and browse to Access Rules on the left, and select First-Person Unlock. From here, click Add.

2. Select the door you want the rule to apply to, as well as the status you wish to be set by the rule. Select a Weekly Schedule and Holiday Schedule, and then click the + button to add a person who will activate the rule.

3. Select which Person(s) will be able to activate the rule, and click OK.

4. You will now see the people in the Person List. Make sure your settings are correct, and click Apply.

Note: The Weekly Schedule is what determines what time the rule will apply. For example, if the weekly schedule is Monday to Friday, 07:30-18:00, when the specified person unlocks the door at any point during that time frame, the Status rule will apply until that scheduled time ends (18:00 in this example).

5. You will now see the rule in the First Person Unlock list. You can only apply First Person Unlock to one door at a time, so you may need to create multiple rules. Each door needs to be unlocked manually to activate the rule.

6. To demonstrate, you can see here in Access Monitoring that this door is currently closed (using a Normal status). Our First Person Unlock is scheduled Monday to Friday, 07:30-18:00.

7. It is currently Wednesday at 11:25, so scanning the door will unlock it, and keep it unlocked until 18:00.

8. For the purpose of this demo, we've modified the schedule to end on Wednesdays at 11:29:30, so we can see here that the door has automatically returned to a locked (Normal) status.
