Basic Setup via LumiViewer (Person and Permission Management)

Description

This tutorial will cover the basic setup for access control systems in LumiViewer. It will walk you through adding the device, creating users, and setting permissions.

Prerequisites

  • Luminys Access Controller
  • LumiViewer

Step by Step Instructions

1. From the Home page of LumiViewer, select the Device Management option to the right. If your device is already added, skip to step 4.

2. Click Auto Search to scan your local network for available devices. Be sure to set the appropriate IP range if it is not the same as your PC, and click Search. Once you've located your controller, check the box for it and click Add.

3. Enter the Username and Password for the controller, and click OK to finish adding the controller.

Note: You can also chose to manually add a device using the Add button. You will need to know the IP address and the port to add the controller. It is not advised to use P2P for Access Control systems.

4. Now that our device is added, return to the Home tab and select Person and Permission.

5. Select Person Management on the left, and click Add to create a new Person.

6. Enter a numerical user ID, and add the persons name. At this point you may wish to add a card or password (pin) for the user as well. You can click Continue to move to the next new user, or Finish to complete the process.

7. Now that we have a user, select Permission Management on the left to set up their access permissions. Select the + button at the top to create a new Permission Group (access rule).

8. Provide a name for the Permission Group and a remark (if desired) to help identify the rule. Select the Access Schedule from the available Time Templates, as well as the which types of authentication the users have access to. Next, select which doors the users will have access to, and click Next.

Note: The authentication type does not override the door configuration. If the Permission group is set to allow Card and Password, but the door configuration only allows cards, passwords will not work. See here for help changing door parameters.

9. After we have set the basic permissions, select the people that will have access to the defined doors during the selected time frame, and click OK. Note that at this time, LumiViewer does not support department-wide permissions. Each user needs to be added manually, which means users created after the rule need to be manually added to the rule.

10. Once we have set the Permission group, now the user will have access to the door during the defined time, by the defined methods. If you notice an Access Code Error in the Access Monitoring, it likely means that the Unlock Method needs to be adjusted at the door level as explained in step 8.
