How To Enable and Use LumiFlex

Description

This article will cover how to enable LumiFlex on Luminys cameras, and how to view the LumiFlex feed in your VMS. LumiFlex uses sub stream 2 on the primary channel of supported devices to output a single channel view of all camera channels. This allows you to view a single video stream in your VMS for ease of use, and reduced channel license requirements for LumiCenter and LumiCloud.

Prerequisites

  • LumiFlex Camera
  • LumiViewer or LumiCenter VMS
  • Access to camera WebUI

Step by Step Instructions

1. Start by logging in to the cameras WebUI. Once logged in, select the Settings tab at the top.

2. Expand Video/Audio on the left and then click on Video below that.

3. Ensure the channel is set to channel 1.

4. Enable Sub Stream 2, and set the Output Mode to 4 in 1 Stream / LumiFlex 1 (depending on camera model).

5. Click on Apply to save the changes.

6. Now that LumiFlex is available from the camera, you simply need to adjust the channel 1 stream to use Sub Stream 1 by right-clicking on the channel, and selecting it from the Stream Type menu.

Of note, LumiViewer will utilize all channels of a recorder. If you wish to reduce the channel count for LumiViewer, you must use the camera as a network device, instead of plugging directly into an NVR. When a multi-stream camera is connected directly to an NVR's PoE port it will always add all channels. This cannot be overridden at this time. Instead, connect the camera to a PoE switch on the same network as the recorders NIC, and use the Manually Add option in the recorder to add the camera instead. When manually adding, make sure you click Connect after entering the password, and then click Settings beside the Total Channels. This then allows you to modify the channels you are adding to the recorder, otherwise all channels are added.
