How to Enable Speaker, Microphone, PTZ and Edge Storage
Description
Today we will be looking at how to enable the Speaker, Microphone, PTZ and Edge Storage on devices.
Prerequisites
- LumiCenter server and client installed on a computer.
- Hardware with supported features (microphone, speaker, etc)
Video Guide
Checking Compatibility
If the device supports any of these functions, you will see them listed under the added device in the device tree just like we saw in 2.2.
Microphones
To configure the microphone, you will first want to select the microphone from the device tree underneath the device you want to configure. You will want to change the “No” option to “Yes” for the microphone setting to enable the microphone. Depending on the model of camera, you may also be able to configure the audio input source, or volume. The camera model listed does not have the option so it does not appear. In the second screenshot, you can see that you also have the option to choose a different device source for the microphone, so if you want to use a microphone from a different camera to use as the audio source, you can pick from the drop down menu.
- Note: The Microphone object will be displayed even if the camera only has a microphone input instead of a real physical microphone.
Speakers
The next camera object we will look at is the Speaker option. Just like the microphone option, if the camera has a speaker, it will appear in the device tree. To configure speaker, first choose the speaker option underneath the device, you will then see the configuration option to the right. To enable the microphone, change the “No” to “yes”. You can then configure other parameters including bitrate, encoding or sample rate depending on the model. You can also choose an audio file from the computer; and you can have it played through the cameras speaker. This can be done with a Macro which is discussed in later chapters.
PTZ Functions
The next camera object we will discuss is the PTZ function. The same as the previous objects, if the camera is a PTZ, the PTZ object will appear under the device in the device tree. Select the PTZ option under the device, and make sure it is enabled by changing “No” to “yes” in the device configuration panel. The preset name format on LumiCenter should be the exact same as it is in the camera Web Interface. For more details regarding PTZ usage, please refer to the PTZ training chapter.
Edge Storage
The last camera object we will learn about is the Edge Storage function. If the device supports Edge Storage features, then the edge storage object will be displayed in the device tree under the device. If you want to access the recordings stored, either on the device SD Card of the HDDs, select yes in the Enable Field. You will then be able to select and access the edge storage from Playback. To switch to playback from the Edge storage, when in the playback menu, in the very bottom right of the video, there will be 3 lines, if you click on that you will get a drop down that will allow you to choose which storage you want to playback from which you can see in image 2.
