LumiViewer PC/Setup Events
How to Setup Events in LumiViewer
Description
This tutorial will go over how to set up LumiViewer for events. This process allows LumiViewer to receive event information from your devices and display, record locally, or otherwise notify you to the event, as well as linking actions to other devices. LumiViewer must be running for these events to work, and the event source needs to be online in the software.
Prerequisites
- LumiViewer application installed on the computer
- NVR / Camera added to LumiViewer with events (iMD, VCA, etc) setup.
Step by Step Instructions
1. Starting from the LumiViewer Home tab, select Event Config on the right.
2. In the Event Config window, select the device (channel) you want to monitor for events, and then select the event type you are trying to set up. Enable the event at the top, and then set your preliminary event parameters under the Notify tab, and click Save when you are finished.
A) Alarm Sound - Triggers an audible notification sound from the LumiViewer software.
B) EMap Twinkle - If the camera is linked to an EMap, it will pulse a red icon on the camera indicating an event has occurred.
C) Send Mail - Enables email notifications for the event. Must have SMTP enabled in LumiViewer and set up with email server settings.
D) Detail Popup - Receive a pop-up alert in LumiViewer with details of the event.
E) Save Recordings - Enables LumiViewer to save video recordings of the events locally to the PC.
3. If you wish to link a video to the event, select the Link Video tab at the top. It is important to note that this function is generally designed for linking videos from a source other than the event source. Event source videos are already included via the Detail Popup option. If you only want the event source video, do not use this function. If you wish to link other channel sources this is the correct setting.
Select the channel you want to link, and drag it to the video frame. You can set the layout to use multiple channels and link multiple video sources to one event. Once you have your desired video sources linked, you can configure the video parameters such as the stream type, the duration it displays for, and if that source is recorded alongside the event source video. Click Save when you are finished.
4. The Alarm Output tab is used to trigger the alarm output relay of a device upon triggering of an event. For the purpose of this guide, we will skip this section, but note that you simply select which devices alarm output you want to trigger, and enable it.
5. To set the timeframe the rule is active, select the Defense Time tab at the top. You can modify the schedule to dictate what day/time LumiViewer will trigger the events. Note that like our other settings, this does not have an effect on the recorders local event triggers/recordings and is specific to LumiViewer. Save the settings when you are done.
6. At any point during this process you can click the Copy To button to copy all event settings of the selected event type to a different channel. If you are using the Link Video function, be advised it will copy the exact settings of that channels linked videos, so you may need to adjust those for your other channels to link to the correct video sources.
7. After you have set up your events, you may wish to change the location that the event data is saved in to prevent using up space on your install directory drive. To do this, click System Settings on the left, and select Local Path. Click the folder to the right of Pic Path / Record Path to chose a directory for the saved recordings. Be sure to click Apply when finished.
8. Lasty, now that you have everything set up, we will cover how to view your events. To do so, select Event Center from the Home tab.
9. In the main Event Center window, you will see a running log of events which you can filter, as well as "Process." You can process events from the Details Popup and Linked Video notifications at the time of the event as well. Processing is not required, but it is an effective way to catalog events that have been reviewed by a person.
10. You can also search a historical list of events using the Event Record page. Select it on the left, and set your search terms. Once set, click Search and you will see a log of your events. You can also export the event logs using the Export button. The export does not contain video footage, it is an Excel file with text logs only.
11. In the LumiViewer Event Records list, you can click the small image icon to the right of the event to see a snapshot of the event trigger, or you can click on the film reel icon to select the recorded video source and review video footage of the event.
An important consideration for LumiViewer event recordings is that LumiViewer will append event recordings to previous events if they occur within the same record time period. For example: If you are using the default 20 second event recording, if event 1 occurs at 12:00:00, and event 2 occurs at 12:00:15, one video file is generated covering 12:00:00-12:00:35.
Each event is searchable as an individual event in LumiViewer but shares one video playback. This means, if you have an event in a busy area with chronic triggers, you may need to manually filter through the playback to the target timeframe to review the video recording.
