NVR/Local Playback Backup
How to Backup Video Recordings from Playback via NVR
Description
This tutorial will go over how to backup video recordings from playback via the NVRs local monitor.
Prerequisites
- Luminys NVR with recorded footage
- USB Flash Drive
Step by Step Instructions
1. From the NVRs main menu, select Playback at the top.
2. Select the camera you wish to backup footage from in the list on the left.
3. Click the time bar at the desired starting point, and click the scissors (Video Snipping) button. Note that setting the start point is not required, but will autofill the starting time for you. Without doing this, you simply need to enter the start time manually in the next step.
4. Slide the time marker to your end time, and click the scissors again to set your end time. Alternatively, you can manually enter the end time in the field as shown here.
5. Once the start and end times are set, click the Save button.
6. In the window that opens, select the backup device (where you will save the video), and select the clips you wish to save. Note that recorders can split video into multiple files, which is how it creates event recordings. If your start and end times span multiple NVR recordings, you may wish to select the Video Merge option which will save it as one single video file. Otherwise all checked videos in the list will be separate videos.
7. Select the file format you wish to use. LAV is the raw, proprietary video format which requires LumiPlayer to open. MP4 is a more universal format supported by almost all video players. Once you've set your format, click Backup.
8. The NVR will ask you to select the location you want to save the files in on the selected drive. By default it will save to a folder called "Backup" in the parent directory of the drive. You can browse to your desired location, or create a new folder if needed. Click OK to start downloading the file(s).
9. A progress bar will appear showing you the status of the download.
10. Once the download is complete, you will receive a message indicating so. Click OK, and you can now remove the flash drive to use as needed.
